Waco, Texas - Baylor University is proud to honor the legendary singer David Phelps with the Exemplary Leadership in Church Music Award at a private ceremony on Thursday, July 20th in recognition for his cumulative lifetime achievements. Phelps is an accomplished singer and songwriter known for his powerful voice, captivating performances, and numerous accolades, including multiple Dove Awards and Grammy Awards. Phelps will celebrate this achievement with a public concert on Friday, July 21st, at Jones Hall on the Baylor University campus. The concert is being hosted by Brian Townley, in association with the Baylor Center for Christian Music Studies. Townley is a prominent Waco resident who has been instrumental in bringing Phelps to Waco 8 times, since 2003. Together with the Baylor Center for Christian Music Studies, Townley is proud to present this once-in-a-lifetime event.
David Phelps is widely regarded as one of the greatest singers of his generation. He began his career as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, where he quickly gained a reputation for his soaring tenor voice and dynamic stage presence. Phelps has released numerous solo albums over the years, including "Life is a Church," "No More Night," and "Freedom." His music has touched the hearts of millions of fans around the world, and his live performances are legendary for their emotional power and spiritual depth.
